Craig West and Jim Pearson Light 99's Yearly Event 'The River Of Life Concert' was LARGE!! It all happened Mother's day, May 9th. With attendance estimates up to 12,000! To everyone who attended-THANK YOU! Let's do it again next year shall we? At 6 O' clock the hosts hit the stage to kick off the River Of Life Concert. Light 99 air personalities Craig West, Jim Pearson & Dan O'Neil greeted the swelling crowd with Free stuff. One of many highlights included the debut of the World's most powerful Slingshot which doled out CD's, video's, and apparel, at over 150 yards into the crowd! Later that Local group 'Room Full of Walters' opened the show with some Praise & Worship. Then went into a great 15 minute set.

Then FFH hit the stage with a confident fervor. A full 60 minute set included 'Big Fish', 'One Of these Days' and 'I Want To Be Like You'. Their harmonies we're tight & and thier sound was fresh. After their set Craig Jim & Dan took the stage to Draw from 5 semifinalists in the 'World's Best Mom Contest', with the Grand Prize winning a $1000.00 shopping spree from Kellogg-Buck Furniture! Our semi-finalists we're in a nail biting frenzy. But alas, there was only one left standing - Our Grand Prize winner - The Best Mother in the World was - Brenda Baker of Wichita. She is a mother of 8, with one on the way. Brenda & her husband Brian are decorating thier guest room, so that shopping spree will come in handy.

Afterwards the time had come to 'pass the hat' for the Victims of last weeks storms. We asked you all week to prepare to come & give something extra- and you did. By your donations, we raised nearly $5000.00! Thank you. Once again the Light 99 comes through.

By 7:15 everyone was ready to hear the headliner of the Show- Sparrow recording artist's Avalon. They hit the stage with a live band and had everyone hopping moving. In the middle of the set, they decided to do a Hymn set that included the old gospel standards including 'I'll Fly Away' and many other standards. It brought back the memories of napping under the pew, while mom & dad sung out of the old hymn books. After wards they launched into more songs all to familiar with Light 99. All in all it was a huge success. Thanks again to our sponsors - Larry Underhill Realty, Park Place Assembly of God, Chapel Hill Fellowship, The Better Book Room & Metro Express.
